I do know that al Qaeda is in Iraq
–Barack Obama, responding to John McCain’s claim that Obama’s “withdrawal” plan–which is less than meets the eye–would amount to the “surrender” of a whole “country.”
I suppose it would be too much to ask that these men, while evidently starting their general-election campaign in February–would question the very premise on which they “know” Al Qaeda is in Iraq.
In any event, we’ve now seen that McCain’s playbook is pretty much as expected: You need Big Granddaddy War Hero to keep you safe. It’s all he has.
