I am going to make this entry an open thread, where anyone with comments or corrections to my travel pages can post.
The travel pages currently host primarily photos and commentary regarding our July-August, 2005, trip, which included Auschwitz-Birkenau in Poland, Jewish sites (including visiting with some of the few remaining communities) in Ukraine, the Transcarpathian region (with its spectacular scenery and amazing wooden chuches of diverse ethnic communities), and two of east-central Europe’s most impressive cities, Lviv and Kyiv.
In the near future I hope to have added some pages devoted to beer travels in Belgium, the Czech Republic, and elsewhere.

Matt,
These are amazing photos!!! I also like that you’ve included commentaries about many of the photos. It looks like you’ve had a great trip!!
Looking at these photos, especially the ones with city scenes and buildings, makes me homesick, because it looks so much like Romania.
Thanks for sharing these!

Dear Mr. Söberg
My name is Arne Erling Söberg.
I live in Norway.
I wondered if we in any way were related. I have a cousin Carl Soberg in New Hampshire.
Yours sincerely

Hello. I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful photos from Berehove. That is the town my grandmother came from, and where many of our family members perished in WWII. I would love to see the town for myself someday, although I have no idea where in the town my grandmother lived. In the meantime, I was happy to see some of the photos to get a sense of the town.

Hello, Thanks for your wonderful trip photos. I have relatives living in the villages of Klucharky and Nove Davidkovo near Mukachevo. I thoroughly enjoyed viewing your photos of this area in Transcarpathia. Now with excellent digital cameras widely available wouldn’t it be a wonderful project for someone to organize, say the schoolchildren, to photograph the gravestones of the cemeteries in Transcarpathia. They could be posted to the Internet for reference by persons tracing their roots. Again thanks for posting your interesting photos.

Hi,
Just saw your photos of Berehove & Munkacz. I am planning a trip to that area & was wondering if you have any contact info for Zev Goldinger.
Thanks,
Pearl
