The Solomon Islands parliament voted, 28-22, to elect opposition leader, Manasseh Sogavare, as prime minister. Sogavare previously served as PM in 2000 and 2001.
Much more at The Head Heeb, who notes, among other interesting things, that Sogavare’s party is Social Credit. This must be the last Social Credit Party of any significance anywhere. At one time, Social Credit parties ruled several Canadian provinces (including British Columbia) and another was a strong third party (in votes, but not seats, owing to the use then of FPTP) in New Zealand.
